We are looking for your involvement for our walk for Alzheimer's.
Annually, more than 600 communities nationwide get together for The Walk to End Alzheimer's. This year the Red Door Team will be walking in this event for Snohomish county on October 1st at 8:30 am.
How is it that this event matters to a Real Estate Team?
The awareness for me (the owner of the Red Door Team) started in the mid 90's when, after a vacation to visit family in Minnesota and a stay at my in-laws, I received a curious phone call. "Why did you take the sheets?" Like a good guest, I had taken them off of the bed and to the laundry room. "How odd", I said to my husband that Mom would call to accuse me of taking them. It was some years later that we lost MOM completely to Alzheimer's. Since that time, my awareness has extended to include other close family, friends and real estate clients. The day Alzheimer's showed up in my real estate consultation was a turning point in my career. The family in that property sale surrounded their father in a very loving way. Some days he realized what was happening and other days, not so much. What spoke to me at the time and continues to lead my career focus and that of the Red Door Team, is the need for real estate agents to understand the complexity of moving forward in a transition with Alzheimer's or any other illness touching the lives of senior home owners and their families.
Today, this perspective has expanded our mission for the Red Door Team to serve the senior community with care, compassion & competence. We believe creating awareness is the first step in helping families navigate through transitions. We believe that together we can make a difference, so please come and join us on October 1st for the walk and help to reclaim the future for millions.
